Details:

AZeotropy is the annual technical fest organized by the Chemical Engineering Association of IIT Bombay. In 2007, workshops and guest lectures, along with an added flavor of technical competitions – all came under a unique canopy as ChEA Symposium reinvented itself as AZeotropy. With the patronage of big corporate houses and appreciation from a nation-wide audience AZeotropy made an impact during the last 3 years. With loads of prizes on stake and goodies to be won, with the adventures of chemical engineering and the nuances of an entrepreneur, with the eye of a learner and the ecstasy of a winner Azeotropy 2k10 has a little bit for everyone – a “Pareto Optimal event” . The roster of activities for this year are:

Some of the attractions of AZeotropy 2k10 :

2. Lecture by Dr. Donald Reinalda, Principal Scientist, Chemistry and Catalysis, SHELL Technology India Pvt. Ltd.
3. Lecture by Prof. S. K. Gupta, L&T Chair Professor of Chemical Engg., IIT Bombay – will be conducting a workshop on Genetic Algorithm

8. Some of the unique competitions this year – Age of Chempires, Life Cycle Assessment, Virtual Chemical Market, Design Events, Online Quizzes etc.

Events and Competitions:

1) Life Cycle Assessment: A unique green concept which is largely used in the western industries for energy calculations but is yet to gain popularity in India. Team Azeotropy has taken it on itself to popularize the concept in the form of a Poster Presentation competition.

2) Age of Chempires: A techno-managerial event which will lead the participant through technical hazards and mobilize his/her technical skills as they battle their way through 3 skillfully planned stages to win the laurels of the ultimate “Corporate Citizen”.

3) Virtual Stock Market: The event fuses the thrill of a virtual stock market with the knowledge and understanding of Chemical Engineering. In short the money may be virtual but the fun will be real.

4) Design Events: The design events ,“Prayog” will require the transfer of engineering skills from paper to action. The two events listed under “Prayog” are “Synergy” and “Xtraction” which will challenge the budding engineer within you to the fullest.

5) Industry Defined Problems: Get a taste of the real industry and actually help them solve their current problems. An opportunity to actually use your tool of knowledge to provide innovative solutions to real-life problems.

6) Paper and Poster Presentation: The opportunity to showcase your achievements and knowledge in the form of papers and posters.

7) Online Events: Online quizzes and other events to challenge your knowledge base.
