Details of Infotsav 2011

Infotsav, the largest techno management fest of central India, is organized by students of ABV-IIITM Gwalior. With the immense success in previous years with a large number of participation from all over the nation, this year is going to be some different.This year Infotsav will be organized from 10^th-12^th November 2011. Infotsav’11 is aimed at nurturing novelty and thus this time it is destined to organize one of the best Open software exhibitions in the country through the event “La Ingenious”.

First time in central India any techno management fest will conduct Young India Entrepreneurs summit.  YIE is the platform for the dreamers of India to come together, to connect – with fellow entrepreneurs and know how they could overcome major challenges. Guest lectures by Mr. Yashwant Kanetkar , author of “Let us C” , Prof. H.C Verma, IIT K have already graced our event with their experience and knowledge. This time more of the same will be there enlightening us with their presence. These are only a few mentions but much more exists at the real event time.

This robotics events being introduced last year with state of the art workshops which include highly specialized Robotics workshops by Robosapiens and Robotech Labs, Ethical hacking workshop by eminent Sunil Vaghela, and for the first time in Gwalior region a Game designing and development workshop conducted by the best trainers from the industry has given new dimension to technical events. The bigger and better Robofiesta, this time will enthrall the participants showcasing some of the best machines the country has got.

Ethical Hacking has never been as ethical as it can be at “Akraman” and the online programming contest “Code Weavers” will make you debug your code with a worst case complexity of O (LOC). “Web Mania” will put to test the spider like creativity skills of the designer and “Witch Hunt” will make you struggle through debugging the programs. If taking quizzes is your passion then try out “Enigma” that will leave you puzzled with every question you answer, right or wrong.

The constellation of management events comprise of “Pinnacle”- business plan competition, “Acumen”-case study contest, “Brouhaha”- you don’t need to be Prahlad Kakkad or Prasoon Joshi to battle this but for “ Tycoon” if you follow any manager like Indira Nooyi or Ratan Tata it is not surprising but remember that survival of fittest is based on evolution and not copying.

Simulation events now get bigger and better and tougher, need to find jobs just log into” Job Bureau” and make money through forex.

Sameeksha the paper presentation contest is one of the most coveted events in the series. “Chakravyuh” and “Gamiacs” will make your skills spur out to levels of competition not faced before.

Infotsav is not just another tech-fest but a coalescence of skills and knowledge. The doors of Infotsav are now open for all those who wish to enter this royal domain of intellectual excellence. About The Al Gore Sustainable Technology Venture Competition™ 2010

The Al Gore Sustainable Technology Venture Competition™ Asia’s first and most prestigious sustainable/clean technology business plan competition, founded in 2007, is the brainchild of Oopali Operajita, CEO, Cicero, A Trans National Advisory, a Senior Political and International Affairs Adviser to several of India’s prominent political leaders and a former Distinguished Faculty Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University, USA. Operajita was appointed at Carnegie Mellon by its legendary founder-president, President Richard Cyert, and she firmly established India and India studies there, as far back as 1989, bringing India’s ambassadors and leaders to visit campus for the first time. Operajita thought up an exclusive All India Sustainable Technology Venture Competition in honour of Vice President and Nobel laureate Al Gore. The faculty shortage is acute everywhere and it would be a learning experience to know how the future B-schools are going to cope especially if you have to take on the globe!

Student quality from India is very high but there is always lingering doubt whether we are getting the best among these as the filters that we are using today, CAT, XAT, GD PI may be not enough to locate the students that we would need for making a Future B-school a worthwhile proposition. The systems that we are adopting today to gauge the progress of the student is outmoded and we needed drastic innovation and change in the faculty teaching and student outcome rubrics.
Also the effectiveness of the school is based on the way students engage with the corporate; all good international schools are masters in this game. The association also changes the curriculum, delivery
and pedagogy at the school end. There should be innovative and creative corporate engagement models here in India too.
Finally, the B-school of the future should be a fun place, and in fact no place at all! Technology should enable the students to study at their own pace, attend lectures at their own will and yet be part of a live, throbbing B-school that works!

The bottom-line however the costs that go in building a world class school and also running it as in service industry the infrastructure costs would be depreciated fast but recurring costs can be killing.

The industry works on the basis of student fees and there are limitations here and also room for innovations!
Placements are the raison d’être of the B-schools but this can severely hamper the rest of the Bschool process. Admissions, curriculum, choice of subjects, faculty choices, projects, summer placements and even CGPA computation works around the placement effect! “The best CGPA gets you to sit first for placements, even though you may not necessarily fit with the jobs being offered”.

The way to tackle this is more corporate engagement right from the start and entrepreneurship models.

Vulture’s Nest is an unique initiative taken by The Entrepreneurship Cell, IIT Bombay. Set in a reality show format,which will be aired on ET Now, the participants get an opportunity to pitch in front of investors about their startup. The best will be selected from the regional stages for the finals at The Entrepreneurship Summit 2010 where they will get exposure to funding opportunities from top Venture Capitalists. Don’t miss out this golden opportunity. If funding is what you need for your startup, Vulture’s nest is for you.

Stage 1:

Entries will be short-listed on the basis of the executive summaries (4 pages) of their business plans. Selected teams will be invited to present their business ideas to a panel of V.C.’s at E-summit 2010.

Stage 2 :

20 Shortlisted executive summaries from each regional sector shall be called to the respective cities for pitching in front of investors.

Stage 3:

Top 10 teams shall be called down to the finals of Vulture’s Nest at E-Summit 2010 for their final pitches.
