Over the years SRM University has built and maintained a reputation for its state of the art facilities, as well as the experience and ethics it imbues in its students. This forms the basis for achieving success in today’s world. Aaruush, one of the largest technological symposiums of the country has kept up its tradition of innovation and has broken many frontiers.
Aaruush has a knack for bringing out the best in you. This techno-management fest is a platform for more than 10,000 young minds from not only India’s but also the world’s top institutions to bring forth their innovative thoughts and ideas. Every year, Aaruush also works along the lines of a theme that aims at the betterment of the society at large by encouraging innovation through technology with respect to the theme. From paper presentations and guest lectures, to debates, quizzes and DJ nights, Aaruush’12 will play host to a plenitude of activities, giving you the opportunity to interact with the brightest minds in the country.

AARUUSH has nine domains and each domain covers a specific field of engineering or management.

BLUEBOOK covers events relating to the fields of bioengineering, life sciences, biology and chemistry. Every event makes sure the participant gains practical knowledge and also tests the theoretical aspects of a wide range of topics.

FUNDAZ consists of events which deal with the fundamental notions of science, basics that one learns from grades 10 to 12 in school.

KONSTRUKTION puts together events where designing, fabricating and practically testing required models are focussed on. It entails the understanding of basic functioning of core engineering fields such as mechanical and civil.

MAGEFFICIE events test the business and managerial skills of the participant. Crisis aversion, management, corporate strategy building and business planning form the basics of this domain.

ONLINE events ensure participation of students on an international level. These events include games, puzzles, treasure hunt and other technical competitions.

PRAESENTATIO helps provide a platform for participants who are interested in paper or model presentations as well as exhibitions backed with substantial proof to showcase their knowledge in their field of interest.

ROBOGYAN consists of events that provide opportunities to innovate and create their own robots with unique specifications for each event. All types of manual, semi-autonomous and autonomous robotic events are accepted.

X-ZONE is entirely about non-technical events and participants can be sure of entertaining and mind racking experiences.

YUDDHAME aims at honing the software and hardware skills of the participants. More specifically: coding in various programming languages and platforms, web designing, integrated circuits, networking and communication techniques.

Entrepreneurship is often the most difficult but also the most courageous and risk taking decision in an individual’s life. An efficient and practical Business plan leads an Entrepreneur to the path of success. We the members IEEE Student Branch, DA-IICT in collaboration with Center for Entrepreneurship and Incubation at DA-IICT (CEID) present B2B – the B Plan competition under its technical festival i.fest,2011, to provide a platform to the young minds with entrepreneurship bent to come up with an B-Plan and showcase their talent.

 

Event Structure -B2B Competition

B2B will be organised in two phases :

Phase I:

Submission of Executive Summary Executive Summary is considered to be the most important part of a Business Plan. It summarizes the business proposition, key financial projections, where the business stands at present and elements that are critical for success.

Phase II:

 Final Presentation of the B-Plan Top five teams selected by our judges would be called to DA-IICT to present their complete Business Plan in front of a panel of judges who would decide the winner based on various aspects of a running a successful business.

About Abacus 2011:

Abacus ’11 is a flagship event of the Department Of Computer Science and Engineering hosted by College of Engineering Guindy,Anna University, Many online events and onsite events of various kinds has been planned for all participants. The onsite events are to be conducted in January 28th and 29th.Students from all colleges are welcome to participate in the events. Visit www.abacus11.in for updates on the events. A short Description of some of the events has been posted below. Workshops and few more events will be added in near future.

ONLINE EVENTS:

  • Code Arena: Online programming contest. The contest will be organized in SPOJ website.
  • ‘I’mage: Poster design contest. Photoshop must be used as the tool.
  • Animate: Virtual reality. The participants will have to design an animated scene for the scenario given (using likes of 3D Studio Max ).
  • Mobila Mobila: The participants will have to design a mobile application for the given theme/problem statement.
  • Gaming unplugged: This is a game design event. The participants will have to mail design and send their game executables.
  • Multilingua: The participants write polyglots (a computer program or script written in a valid form of multiple programming languages, which performs the same operations or output independently of the programming language used to compile or interpret it.) for the problems given.
  • Haiku: The name says it all. For the problem(s) given, the solution program must be as short as possible (in terms of no of characters n lines)
  • Tech hunt/Hacking: Participants will have to use the clues, solve riddles n advance to the next level. Certain rounds could involve hacking also. )

 ONSITE EVENTS:

  • Tech talk: Paper presentation. Participants must submit papers based on the specified topics.
  • Software Demo
  • Onsite Programming Contest and Code obfuscation: Programming contest involving algorithms n stuff. There will be a round for Code obfuscation too.
  • Network Warriors: All you need is basic understanding of Computer Networks and underlying principles with some exposure to Linux commands and programming. (Finals may be a programming round)
  • CompuWar: CompuWar tests your understanding of fundamental computer science subjects like Operating Systems, DBMS, Computer Architecture, Networking, Data Structures and Algorithms, Programming in C/C++, Automata, and Compilers.
  • DBMania: Event for database lovers.
  • Gamindrome: Compete in LAN  Games to beat others ( Counterstrike , FIFA , NFS etc)
  • Debugging: Spot the bug(s) n rectify the program.
  • Biz Quiz: Business quiz.
  • General quiz
  • Math programming + cryptography: This event will require participants to solve mathematical problems in cryptography.
  • CracktheOak: Java Programming event.

Workshops at Abacus 2011:

1) Animatronics Workshop.Mr. Srinivas Mohan, the Visual Effects Supervisor of many technically acclaimed films inclusive of ENTHIRAN and his team, Indian Artists Computer Graphics Pvt. Ltdassures to rapt the participants on a thrall to the World of Animatronics, on a half-a-day workshop.

2) IBM’s Cloud Computing Workshop.The most revolutionizing technology of the recent times is explicated from its core basics with inquisitive participants ready to embark their Cloud Journey with one of the eminent evangelists of the field, IBM in this One day hands-on workshop. All set to make the Cloud rain!
