“CALLIDA” means ‘Drill Your Skills’.It was started in the year 2003. CALLIDA ’06 version 5.0 was conducted at a National Level drawing more than 500 enthusiastic participants from more than 6 states. This year we plan to conduct it at a state level on the 24th of Feb with the same fervor. There are a variety of contests that test the design, coding and analytical ability latent in every individual. Techofes is the annual inter College Social and Cultural festival of College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University.It is one of the South India’s Biggest Cultural Festival organised completely by college students. It is usually held in mid February every year for four nights and thee days.Techofes draws a footfall of about 40,000 students from more than 400 colleges across South India. Techofes, now in its thirty sixth edition, has snowballed to become one of the biggest Cultural fests in India. The festival draws the best talents of South India to its competitions, covering areas ranging from music and drama to literary, games, arts and quizzing. There are several events focussed on building social responsibility amongst the youth. Professional Shows and workshops by various groups and prodigies from all over the country are an added attraction. Techofes is all about bigger, more enthusiastic participation, high performance competitions, amazing pro shows, innovative workshops and attractive prizes.

Techofes is organized by the Students Association and Arts Society, an elected, student-run, non-profit organization. With an approximate strength of 600, this team works on conceptualization to successful execution every year, with no assistance from any event management company or professionals.

Prominent sponsors include Airtel, Vodafone, Pepsi, Samsung, ONGC, State Bank of India, Saint Gobain, Canara Bank, India Cements, Zuari Cements, TVH have been associated with Techofes. Their media associates were The Hindu, Inox, Radio One, SS Music.

The main attractions are Pro-nite and Choreo-nite. Pro-nite is the wing of Techofes that organizes professional shows and concerts. Choreo-nite is a dance competition . Finalists of the competition perform for an audience of 15,000 in the open air theatre of Anna University and are judged by renowned choreographers.

This year at Techofes ’12, we have confirmed the “Youth Icon of South India”, Yuvan Shankar Raja for the Techofes Concert. So catch Yuvan Live only at Techofes on Feb 16, 2012.

Past editions of Techofes 

* Techofes ’05 took place starting 11 February 2005. Inaugurated by Actor Madhavan and Actress Sridevi. Some special judges include Comedian Senthil for Variety show event and Choreographer Sridhar for dance event. The special visitor was actor ‘Jeyam’ Ravi and Comedian actor Santhanam was the Chief Guest for variety show event.
*Techofes ’06 took place starting 10 February 2006.
*Techofes ’07 took place starting 14 February 2007. Inaugurated by Actor Silambarasan. and the showpiece event was a concert by Vasundra Das. The special visitor was actor Vikram.
*Techofes ’08 took place starting 13th February 2008. Inaugurated by ‘Isaignani’ Ilayaraja. The concert was done by Shankar Mahadevan, Chinmayi and Bombay Jayashree.
*Techofes ’09 took place starting 23rd February 2009. Inaugurated by Actor ‘Ilayathalapathy’ Vijay. Other guests includes Actor Shaanthanu, Sivakarthikeyan & Shiva. Concert was done by Hariharan.
*Techofes ’10 took place starting 14 February 2010. It included a special screening of Aayirathil Oruvan at the presence of its director Selvaraghavan. Pro-nite saw a performance by Karthik. Other guests include Singer Benny Dayal and Choreographer Rajasundaram.
*Techofes ’11 took place starting 16 February 2011.Inaugurated by Actor Karthi. It saw film making workshops with Gautham Menon and Sameera Reddy. Other guests include Actor Jai, Premji amaran and Vijay Vasanth. Concert was done by Musicic director Tamann and singer Suchitra.
* Techofes ’12 is planned for 15–18 February 2012.
