About the Fest :
Take part in the CIMA Global Business Challenge, and win a trip to Malaysia for the global final in 2010!
The CIMA Global Business Challenge is an international competition that is designed to bring out the best in potential business leaders among young people.
Teams from all over the world will be participating in this global challenge. They will come from the UK, Ireland, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, India, Mainland China, Philippines, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, UAE and Australia. The winning team from each region will compete in Malaysia, representing their region and institution.
How does it work?
The regional competitions will consist of analysing, reporting and presenting on a CIMA case study. Only one team from each region will be put forward to compete in the global final. The global final will consist of presentation to an audience, including a panel of high profile judges, as well as Q&A session.
Who is it for?
The competition is aimed at undergraduates who are interested in the finance or business field. The Global Business Challenge will give you a great opportunity to find out the depth of your financial knowledge, try your business management skills, expand your competitive ability, and even get internship opportunities from well known organisations.
What will the GBC bring me?
- You will get a taste of what it is like to be a chartered management accountant.
- Working on a real Test of Professional Competence in Management Accounting case study, you will get first hand experience of the skills management accountants need.
- You’ll have the opportunity to travel to Malaysia – the winning team will represent their university and region in the global final 2010 in Malaysia.
- And you’ll also have a great chance to meet some of the world’s top employers. The competition will be sponsored by a host of different employers, and you’ll have exposure to them during the competition.
- You will be able to socialise with peers from countries all round the globe and explore cultural difference.
Rules of the competition
By participating in the CIMA Global Business Challenge 2010, each team agrees to accept the following rules, terms and conditions.
- Failure to comply with any rules, terms and conditions of the competition may result in the participating teams disqualification and/or the forfeit of the teams prize; the prize will be awarded to another winner.
- All participants shall agree to allow their names and photographs to be used for publicity purposes by CIMA during and after the competition.
- CIMA holds the intellectual property rights for all materials submitted by the participating teams for the competition.
- CIMA will not be responsible for submitted material lost in transit.
- Participants are advised to be punctual at the competition. Those who arrive late will be automatically disqualified.
- Any kind of plagiarism is strictly prohibited and will lead to disqualification of participants, duplication of the thoughts or work of another source must be referenced.
- The judges decision is final and no appeals will be entertained.
- CIMA reserves the right to modify or amend the prizes, rules, terms and conditions of the competition at any time.
What are the rules for teams?
- The competition is opened to all full time, undergraduate students.
- Each team must have four members and a mentor (the mentor must be an academic member of staff from your institution and may guide more than one team).
- Members within the team should belong to the same university.
- Each student is restricted to join one team only.
- The competition is open to CIMA student at Certificate in Business Accounting level only
