About Zonasa 2010:

One of the oldest schools of Architecture in the Country, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur was one of the founding members of the National Association of Students’ of Architecture(NASA) which is now one of the largest student bodies in the country.The state of the art infrastructure, reputation and a large pool of illustrious alumni makes IIT Kharagpur an ideal choice to host NASA events.
The college had most recently successfully hosted the zonal convention of NASA in the year 2004.Continuing with the tradition of active participation in NASA related events, IIT Kharagpur has decided to host the Zonal Convention of the the National Association of Students’ of Architecture in the year 2010.The fest is a grooming ground for budding architects of the Eastern Zone of India, with the brightest and most creative students coming together for a grand celebration of Innovation, Creativity and Fun.This year, ZoNASA is all set to be bigger and better than ever before, with a host of new events and competitions waiting to be launched, which would cover diverse areas from Technical to Cultural and even Online.The planning and strategy of the fest has already begun in full swing. And we look forward to your support, and enthusiasm in making the dream of ZoNASA a vibrant reality.

Events At Zonasa 2010:

Sthapati is the Annual Magazine of the Department of Architecture and Regional Planning, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. The post few years have seen tremendous growth in the circulation and stature of Sthapati. The previous issues have had articles from the who’s who of the Architecture Fraternity From Anna Herringer to BV Doshi. Apart from these, we also have articles from budding writers who are student’s of architecture. Since this is the year IIT Kharagpur is hosting the Zonal Convention of NASA, Sthapati 2010 is poised to scale new heights . In connection with this is the Sthapati Essay Competition. The Competition is aimed at providing a platform for student’s of architecture to express themselves, their new ideas and interpretations of architecture in front of the community at large. The details of the competition are as follows.

The Design 27 is one of the most interestingly conceptualized events. The event begins upon registration when each college is handed over the problem statement. Once the problem statement is handed over, the clock starts ticking down till it reaches 27 hours. In the span of these 27 hours, each college can take the help of any software or any technique they wish to use to give justice to their design. Colleges are requested to bring their own laptops preloaded with software they deem necessary. 24 hours internet will be provided to the participants to aid them in their design. Once the 27 hours have elapsed, teams must present their design in front of an eminent panel of judges.

The Main Design Event is one of the most popular events of the convention. Being the most coveted trophy of the Zonal NASA, it has a rich history of innovative problem statements, challenging problems, and extremely creative and out of the box design solutions of top notch quality. The Sheets produced in the main design events are created by the best from the college and a healthy competition ensues for a grueling 6 hours after the on the spot problem statement is released.

The Landscape Design event is another on the spot design event. The structure is complimented and supported by the landscape. The landscape is usually the first impact that the structure leaves on an onlooker. The Landscape Design trophy challenges participants to search the realms of their imagination to create and conceptualize a landscape to frame, enhance and compliment a structure.They are asked to conceptualize the landscape with utmost detail while trying to maximize, aesthetics and functionality.

Interior Design is an event offering immense freedom for the budding architects. The interiors of a building present a creatively different and challenging experience for an architect. The Interior Design Trophy is where color, texture and form take up a totally new meaning and definition. Participants are peresented with an on the spot problem statement for which students have to come up with the best possible solution in the given time frame.

An immensely challenging event, the Product Design event asks participants to innovate and conceptualize a product to satisfy the problem statement on the spot within a given time limit.

Zonal Nasa is also dotted with a number of events for the creative artists in you to flourish. With events ranging from debate and drama to art and music, be assured that you will have a platform to perform, irrespective of your talent.

The environment at the convention is totally ballistic, and the casual events are largely responsible for this. A plethora of events falling under the categories of whack, insane, embarrassing, witty and nutty, the audience and participants alike are left in splits.

This year, CREDENZ will be organized from September 17th to 19th.

EMBEDDED SYSTEM

An embedded system is a combination of hardware and software which creates a dedicated computer system that performs specific predefined task of which is encapsulated within the device it controls.

INTELLIGENT SYSTEM

An intelligent system is a dynamic system that utilizes Computational Intelligence (CI) to analyze interconnections between causes, drivers and effects, so as to model, predict and control the dynamic interactions in a holistic manner. It senses the environment, although we have to realize that it has only a few senses and that these can only capture, for instance, light and sound of an object, but cannot capture or know the object itself.

The workshop aims at providing an international framework for students from perspectives of different technical disciplines to discuss technological and scientific ideas related to Embedded, Intelligent Sytems and Applications.  It helps students to develop knowledge in the broad areas of Embedded and Intelligent Systems.

The applications of Embedded, Intelligent Systems are robotics, agriculture, horticulture, space, military and medicine.
