JIVE the annual techno-cultural-managerial festival of JIIT was founded by Jayprakash Sewa Sansthan under the patronage of Jayprakash Associates Ltd. It is a pulsating festival with an array of events including pro-nights, fashion shows, panel discussions, talk shows, and theme- walk, programming contests, robotics, Technical events, choreography, creative challenges, B-plan competitions, street plays and much more.

Every year JIVE is brought out bigger and better than the previous years. This year we are determined to make it a spectacular event. Some of the technical events for JIVE-X we are planning to organize are mentioned below –

A – Technical Paper & Poster Presentation
Introduction :
Authors are invited to submit manuscripts that demonstrate original unpublished research dealing with Biotechnology, Computer-science, Electronics and communication engineering and information technology. Papers will be reviewed by experts and selected for presentation and inclusion in the conference proceedings based on their clarity, originality, relevance and significance.

Submission Detail
Formatting
All manuscripts should be prepared according to given style.
- The font should be ‘Times New Roman’ or ‘Calibri’ and font size of the text should be 10 point. All the headings must be bold.
- The length of submitted papers must be no more than 10 single-spaced, single-column pages including all figures, tables, and bibliography.
- We may be giving a softcopy of the proceedings. All the papers are to be submitted in proper technical format.
- Papers must be submitted in DOC format.
Submission Method
- Your submission must belong to at least one topic declared in the list of topics.
- The last date for submission of the full paper is Jan 25, 2010.
- All paper must be submitted electronically at submission.technical@jive-x.com with subject “Paper-Department-Full Paper”. E. g. Paper-CSE-full paper.

B – Technical Poster Presentation
Introduction:
A special Poster Session is being organized as part of Technical Presentation event by technical society. Authors are invited to submit short manuscripts of up to 2 pages that briefly describe original unpublished research or design work dealing with Bio-technology, electronics, robotics, algorithmic, systems, applications, or educational aspects of contemporary computing, . It is an opportunity to exhibit your upcoming or completed original work and get a feedback from eminent experts and other delegates of the event.

- The last date for submission of the abstract is Jan 25, 2010.
- All paper must be submitted electronically at submission.technical@jive-x.com with subject “Poster Paper-Department-Abstract”. E. g. Poster Paper-CSE-Abstract.

C – Nipun – The Coding War
Introduction:
NIPUN is not a simple coding contest rather it integrates the different elements of coding domain to bring out the true and all round masters of this field. So, if this thing is in you and you think that you are capable of proving your metal in coding field, then dear warrior this war is destined for you.
Nipun – The coding war is group of 3 competitions on Coding. Debugging, Cryptography. The competitions are independent from each other, a team can participate in any of the competitions, but the team participating in all the three and with a consistent performance will win the Code Wars Trophy.
As a potential warrior one has to score maximum in all the below mentioned events combined in order to emerge as a winner of Code War Trophy.
Scoring –
- Total Score = Score (Coding) + Score (Debugging) + Score (Cryptography)
- Total Time = Total Time (Coding) + Total Time (Debugging) + Total Time (Cryptography)
- The team which is having highest Score and minimum Total Time would be the winner of Coding Wars Trophy
- In case of same score minimum submission total time will be considered.

D – Rachnasagar – Mechanical Designing
Introduction
You believe you can move the whole of earth with just an inconsequential stick as a lever and a wedge as a pivot? If yes, this event is for you. RachanaSagar is an on the spot event. It tests your resourcefulness and creativity, in being able to build a simple model using common stuff that you come across every day. Things like ice-cream sticks, straws, balloons etc., would have to be used to make the models. The models should perform certain tasks, based on the performance of which the winner would be chosen. And remember, you need absolutely no prior preparation for this event!
This is an on the spot event. Registrations will be on a first come first served basis.
Problem Statement 1 – Design a marble rolling skyscraper from Popsicle sticks.

Problem Statement 2 – Design Wind turbine to generate electricity
Date – 6th Feb’2010, Venue – JIIT, Noida

E – Project Seminar
In Project Presentation we invite students from all the colleges to submit their project details. Project can be hardware or software. This competition is a platform where you can evaluate and hence discover the true worth of your project.
General Rules
- The competition is open to undergraduate students of all disciplines.
- The research work done need not necessarily have been done as part of a separate, standalone research program. All the work you have done as part of projects in courses, your summer research work, and the B. Tech/B. E. Projects research program are welcome.
- The project must pertain to any one of the following departments:
- Biotechnology
- Computer Science
- Information Technology
- Electronics and Communication
- Robotics
- Artificial Intelligence (Fuzzy Logic/ Neural Network etc.)
- Project can be hardware or software based and should be in working condition.
- The team should submit project summary maximum of 4 pages (Times New Roman Font size 10) that briefly describes the project and its implementation domains.
- Draft project summary should be submitted in DOC format with project title as file name (e.g. project_title.doc) to the email id: submission.technical@jive-x.com with subject “Project Presentation-Department-Summary”. E. g. “Project Presentation-Computer Science-Summary”.
Important dates
Deadline for submission: 25 January 2010
The final round will be in the form of project presentation in the JIIT Campus during any of the date from 5th -7th Feb ’2010 (Date will be finalized soon) and many other events.
F – Code Buzz – The Online Coding Event
Introduction
Prove your skills when competition amongst everyone, is at its peak!! Time has come where cracking a code is all that is required to cripple an entire nation. Defeat all your challengers in this codebuzz!!!
Rules
- Every team must register on JIVE X and Codechef to obtain a valid team name andcodechef username(for submitting problems)
- Each participant should be the member of one and only one team
- The submissions should be only from one member of the team(team leader) .The submissions from other members of the team will not be entertained and can lead to disqualification of the team.
- Only the source code should be submitted. Explanation if required should be present as comments.
- One team can make as many attempts/submissions as possible. However, only the result of the last submitted solution will be taken into account.
- The ties will be broken on the basis of submission time and execution time.
- Submitting same code by more than one team will lead to disqualification of teams.
- A Team can have maximum of 3 members.
- Teams can be composed of students from different colleges.
- The organizers can add, modify or remove the above mentioned rules. The decision of the organizers will be final.
