About Springfest’11:

Spring Fest, popularly known as SF, is the annual social & cultural festival held at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur during the month of January in the spring semester. The 52nd edition of the fest, Spring Fest 2011, will be held from 21st to 24th January 2011.

During the Spring Fest, students from IIT Kharagpur and from different colleges all over the country participate in a plethora of socio-cultural activities. Most of these are day events which involve dramatics, music and dance competitions, fine-arts contests, quizzes, and other literary events. The number of these events is particularly large and serves to cater to the very large number of participants — both local as well as from other colleges all over the country.

Spring Fest hosts some of the largest concerts in Eastern India. Famous Indian artistes like Kailash Kher, Pritam, KK, Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shankar Mahadevan, Shivamani, Sukhwinder Singh, S. P. Balasubramanian and classical performers such as Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia,L. Sriram, Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Pandit Divyang Vakil have performed here. Indian bands of international repute
like Parikrama, Pentagram, Kryptos, Cassini’s Division, Euphoria, Indian Ocean, Strings etc. have also been performing here. International bands like Breathe, the Delicate Sound of Floyd and Led Zepplica have also performed on the famous Spring Fest stage.
Popular events of SF include Wildfire, Centrifuge, Rangmanch among many others. New additions last year include events such as 70mm, a film festival, A Mighty Pen, a journalism event, Mockingbird, a moot court competition, among others.     i went through the events being organised ,our artists internationally renowned kathak duo nalini-kamalini have performed in the leading universities of the world, it would be excellent if fussion concert is organised by nalini-kamalini's group & Sivmani/A.R. rehman they set world record dancing at kailash mansarovar at the height of 18,000ft. you can visit the site Utube and myspace.com/nalinikamalini

    FRAMED – Documentary making event on environment and climate change in association with British Council.
