The Indian Institute of Technology of Indore is organising its 2nd edition of cultural and technical fest ‘ Fluxus’ from 5th -7th April 2012 in which we expect your gracious presence and support.Fluxus promises to be one of the largest conglomeration of students from various colleges of India.Following is the brief overview of the overall content of Fluxus 2012:

Competitions: Fluxus 2012 will conduct cultural competitions which will comprise of band ,dancing,dramatics,fine arts,industry simulation ,quizzing competitions and technical competitions based on real life industry defined problems in robotics,coding and mechanical engineering.

ABOUT MECHANICA 2012:

Mechanica is annual technical festival of the department of Mechanical Engineering of IIT Madras. With 20+ events and prize money of about 1.2 lakhs; Come and witness the event between March 23rd and 25th of 2012.

The Annual Research and Technology extravaganza of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IITM or Mechanica is the biggest event of the Mechanical Engineering Associaition (MEA) OF IIT Madras. Over the years, it has built it’s own legacy and reputation of being a platform for bringing the entire Mechanical engineering family across the nation under one roof. This year, Mechanica will extend its focus on challenging new horizons and will be a platform of technology and innovation. Mechanica has evolved itself in the past few years to become a stage for discussion and exchange of information regarding the challenges of Mechanical Engineering in the modern day world.

• Double Dutch Force:

Double Dutch Force (DDF) are the world’s best Double Dutch Crew for the first time in Indi Watching DDF in action is like watching a fast-paced combination of hip hop dancing, acrobatics, gymnastics and breakdancing moves. Performers in the video of “Rise Up”.

• Juggling Show by Mark Nizer:

Mark Nizer, the winner of International Juggling Championship, and probably the world’s best Juggler will “Ping-Pong” the crowd !! His invention of new juggling tricks and juggling technologies, combined with his unique wit have set him apart from his peers and is world renowed for his tricks and comic acts.

• Euphorie (1024 Architecture) :

Euphorie plays on the spectator experience in contemporary theater as well as in electronic music offering the audience a brand new approach by using neon guitars.

Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Bombay present AAKAR 2011

It’s remarkable how building blocks are a universal pastime for toddlers the world over. We have all watched while a child delicately balances the last block on a precarious tower, only to knock it over in the clumsy moment of triumph that follows. And we all know we’ve been in that toddler’s place at some time or the other.

It’s amazing how the urge to make something strong, something towering, something commanding is second nature at that age. What’s tragic is how that instinct fades away into the background as the rituals of education fall into place. Where does it go?

We, at Aakaar, wish to provide an outlet for the civil engineer in you. A two day extravaganza enveloping the wide diversities of civil engineering – a pedestal to present your ideas, a platform to show off your designs, a playpen to build those blocks again.

Symposium is a conference for researchers (not always academics) to present and discuss their work. Together with academic or scientific journals, they provide an important channel for exchange of information between researchers. Generally, work is presented in the form of short, concise presentations lasting about 10 to 30 minutes, usually including discussion. The work may be bundled in written form as academic papers and published as the conference proceedings. Prospective presenters are usually asked to submit a short abstract of their presentation, which will be reviewed before the presentation is accepted for the meeting. Some disciplines require presenters to submit a paper of about 6–15 pages, which is peer reviewed by members of the program committee or referees chosen by them.

About Springfest’11:

Spring Fest, popularly known as SF, is the annual social & cultural festival held at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur during the month of January in the spring semester. The 52nd edition of the fest, Spring Fest 2011, will be held from 21st to 24th January 2011.

During the Spring Fest, students from IIT Kharagpur and from different colleges all over the country participate in a plethora of socio-cultural activities. Most of these are day events which involve dramatics, music and dance competitions, fine-arts contests, quizzes, and other literary events. The number of these events is particularly large and serves to cater to the very large number of participants — both local as well as from other colleges all over the country.

Details of Symposium 2010 IIT Madras

The IIT Madras Symposium is an annually held conference that, to put it simply, aims to introduce and excite students about current pressing problems that Indian society faces and how its solutions might be approached, in a multi-disciplinary and holistic fashion.

This year, the Symposium looks to tackle the multi-faceted theme of Education in Rural India.

The preliminary rounds conclude by August 15 and the selected participants will meet at IIT Madras from 29 Sept to 3 Oct 2010.

Participants will be shortlisted on the basis of a written preliminary round and their curricula vitae.

The top entry in the preliminary round will receive up front prize money of Rs. 5000. The contributions of the participants will be rewarded with total prize money of Rs. 150,000. Work done at the IIT Madras Symposium will be compiled into a policy document and a comprehensive report that will be distributed to the participants,
governmental organizations, and various other organizations working in the field.

Details about Aavishkaar 2010 :

Aavishkaar is the annual technical fest conducted by IEEE MSRIT Student  Branch. It was started in the year 2004 by the first IEEE MSRIT executive committee. It was considered to be one of the best and most competitive events that year.

Ever Since, Aavishkaar has been a popular event at MSRIT drawing a large number of students from many colleges in Bangalore and other cities including the NIT’s and IIT’s

• Details about each event:

Algomach( On spot Programming): Commonly known as OSP, this event is the staple event of technical fests all over the world. Programmers must design programs to solve problems within a short time span. The preliminary round will be a written round which will test the basic programming skills. In final round the teams must code hands on. The code will be automatically Judged by an electronic evaluators.

Design and Debugging: Contestant will be given a set of problems and they will have to solve it by designing a new circuit or debug existing hardware. This event will be conducted in two rounds, One written and another the live round with Hardware provided

Robotics: This event challenges building robotics engineers and their ability to implement their ideas. this event will host a set of challenges to test the participant’s robot. The participants are required  to build and bring their own robots to the competition. The description of the event and the specifications of the robot will be uploaded on fest website one week prior to event.

Cyber Treasure Hunt: This event tests the participants’ ability to solve problems and puzzles while they make their way through a sequence of web pages that provides the next challenge. Participants can take part individually or in teams of 2. Team/individual who is able to complete the entire set of obstacles in the fastest(or one who is fastest along 90 mins) wins the event.

Gaming: Aavishkaar 2010 will feature three games Counter Strike (team game) FIFA 2009(solo event) and Need for Speed Most Wanted(Solo event). As a less formal event, it draws interested gamers from all walks to showcase their skills against other gamers. The event is run in an elimination system, until the top two teams/players battle it out for the ultimate glory.

Paper Presentation: Technical Papers describing original research contributions are solicited. Submissions must not be concurrently under review by a conference, journal or any other venue that has proceedings. the paper should be intelligible and self-contained within 10 pages including references and appendices. the submissions will be judged on originality, simplicity, clarity of objectives, review of existing literature, methodology , findings and analysis, conclusions, applications and limitations.

Tech Quiz: Aavishkaar’s Tech Quiz has 5 rounds of intense quizzing, a challenge to your knowledge of the tech world. Tech quiz is one of the favourite events of all engineering students and is a crowd puller. It regularly requires some passionate quizzing. This event is guaranteed to be very interesting, very Competitive and lots of fun for participants and audience alike.

Product Design: The participants will be given an imaginary situation/scenario, for which they are expected to come up with an innovative product. They will have to submit their idea in writing, explain in detail, the innovativeness and the importance of the idea with relevance to the given scenario. the scenario may require them to either develop a product completely from scratch or may involve only innovative improvisation on an already existing idea
