Codefest-2010-IT-BHU

With immense pleasure we, on behalf of Department of Computer Engineering, IT-BHU,  invite you to participate in an Online Coding festival, Codefest, which is to be held from 25th January to 21st March, 2010. It includes exciting competitions on Application Development, Algorithms, Programming & Logic and Mathematics and is open for participation from students & professionals all over the globe.

Problem Statements of Adobe sponsored event GumboRumble with prizes worth 50,000 INR have been released. Adobe certificates will be provided to all successful entries.

Upcoming Events on Codefest

• Code Warrior : Test of overall aptitude and problem solving skills. The event comprises of problems on Puzzles, Algorithm Designing, Debugging & Programming. Submission time shall be 10 days. Scheduled from Feb 5.

• MathMania : An event with Challenging Mathematical Problems as in Project Euler, comprising of 10 questions and time duration of 6 hours. Scheduled on Mar 1.

• Manthan : An algorithm intensive programming competition on the lines of ACM-ICPC, with 8-10 problems and time duration of 5 hours. Scheduled on Mar 1.

• Perplexed! : C obscure Programming Competition, to get in-depth knowledge of C. Simple Programming Problems with constraints on the use of header files and tokens like semicolon, keywords (for, if, switch, etc). Event shall comprise of 6 – 8 Problems to be solved in time duration of 12 Hours. Scheduled on Mar 21.

Till now there have been more than 750 registrations on the website from more than 250 different institutions round the globe which includes 45 professional participants.  Within a month of website launch, it has been viewed by people in 387 cities across 62 countries.

Best solutions of all the events will be provided soon after the contest gets over. You are free to form teams with anyone round the globe. Lots of exciting prizes and goodies are to be won.

Pratibimb ’09 took off with the promise of a journey ‘Around the World in 48hours!’V.J.T.I was decked up so as to represent the confluence of countries and their cultures. The entire setup portrayed the social message of world peace, thus giving the festival a global appeal.

Over the 3 days the festival witnessed a roster of crowd-pulling and exciting events pleasing the palette of every visitor. The events included Short Film Making, Debate, WorldQuiz, Face Painting, DJ Wars, Solo Singing, Solo Dancing, Group Dance, etc. Many events like UV Light Dancing, Food Festival, Aap ki Sarkaar, Personality Contest, Open Wall Graffiti etc. were re-introduced owing to the stupendous participations during last Pratibimb. Special attractions like Tattoo making booth, DJ wars, Special Marathi events under Rangwardhan, workshops like Jazz, Hip-Hop, Belly Dancing, Modelling were an added candy to our basket of events.

We were pleased to have among us celebrities like Mr. Rakesh Bedi , Ms. Sushma Reddy, Mr. Rahul Roy, Band of Boys (also gave a special performance), Mr. Sudesh Bhosle, Mr. Rajeev Paul, Ms. Brinda Parekh, Mr. Bijit Bora and many others who graced the occasion and gave our visitors an experience to cherish.

Details of  Cut.In 2010 :

The Second Cut.In , A Students’ Film festival  by Centre for Media and Cultural Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences.

The second Cut.In Students’ Video Festival will be held at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai on the 30 and 31 January 2010. The festival is being organized by the Centre for Media and Cultural Studies (CMCS), Tata Institute of Social Sciences.

CMCS is an independent centre of Tata Institute of Social Sciences, engaged in media teaching, production, research and dissemination. This national level video festival aimsto encourage talent among this group and also to bring them together. The competition is for short documentaries, short films, public service messages and music videos produced between 1 January 2008 to 15 December 2009.

Category and Prizes  :

Entries are invited for the following categories:

• a) Best Documentary (under 45 min)
• b) Best Short fiction (under 45 min)
• c) Best Public Service Message (Under 2 min)
• d) Music Video (under 6 min)

The festival will feature works by graduate/postgraduate/diploma students all over the country selected by a panel of judges.

Two prizes will be given in each category. The prize consists of a trophy and a citation. In addition there are prizes for Best Camera, Edit and Sound Design.
