Three senior students of IIT (Madras) have been expelled from the hostel for a year for allegedly harassing juniors who joined the institution this academic year. On 18 Aug three students, residents of the Alaknanda Hostel block, were directed to vacate the hostel. The expelled students have been prohibited from visiting the hostel zone including dining halls during the period of expulsion, the faculty member said. They have also been barred from contesting for positions in the students' council and other bodies. They have been warned that disciplinary action would be taken if they were found violating the instructions.
